Project Overview
We have found that issues are one of the major reasons for reduced quality of life in the elderly, leading to a loss of independence and enthusiasm for life.
Knee-related conditions are among the biggest contributing factors, especially for women who are at a disadvantage due to inherent factors, coupled with prolonged periods of sitting.
As a result, women are more likely to develop these conditions than men.
Muscle strength training is the most fundamental solution to address these issues.
Challenge
1. Due to the nursing home and rehabilitation center setting, where privacy concerns are higher, obtaining consent and filming may be restricted during the observation and interview phase.

2. Without medical knowledge, it is necessary to seek cooperation from professionals and consult with them.

Problem
1. After interviews and observations at the nursing home and rehabilitation center, it was found that mobility impairment not only affects the quality of life, but also includes emotional distress.

2. Prolonged sitting often leads to gluteal amnesia, which results in compensatory movements from other parts of the body and muscle atrophy.

3.Going to the rehabilitation center multiple times a week is necessary, as practicing at home may result in further injury due to incorrect movements.
Product Goal
1. Effective self-strength training can also be done at home.

2. Provide correct information to users.

3. Accompany and record the user's rehabilitation progress.

4. Clear, supportive, and reassuring.

Target User
1. Early prevention and treatment for individuals in the high-risk group.

2. Assistance in alleviating symptoms for those who have already developed them.
Product Description
Self-training focused on the quadriceps femoris and gluteus medius muscles, using elastic bands and following the compliance of physical therapy, targeting females age 20-50.

Accelerometers are utilized to judge the correctness of posture, with light reminders to correct incorrect posture, preventing secondary injuries from improper movements. Additionally, stability during exercise is monitored to inform the user of the necessary training intensity.

A personalized rehabilitation plan is created through an app acting as a private coach for the user.

Product Detail
During training, the user binds the straps to the ends of their feet, turns on the power, and uses the accelerator to detect their movements.
The system determines whether the user's movements are correct or not, and flashes lights to correct any incorrect posture.

After a period of continuous training, once the user's movements reach a certain level of stability, elastic bands of different colors and strengths are used to indicate the next level of training intensity. An app can also help the user plan a series of training programs and record their training data.

Product Process
We use a three-axis accelerometer to detect the user's posture and provide reminders. In order to determine correct and incorrect postures, we actually measured the deviation between two groups of values - one consisting of individuals without knee problems and the other consisting of individuals with knee problems - while performing the same movements. We use this deviation value as a basis for determining when a user's posture is incorrect.

What I learn
1. It was a fresh and rewarding experience to collaborate with engineers for the first time and complete the interface.

2. Enhanced experience in conducting interviews and observing field settings (such as nursing homes, rehabilitation rooms, hydrotherapy swimming pools, etc.) and collecting background data.

3. Consulted with rehabilitation therapists and proactively searched for literature to understand knee symptoms and knee tissues.

4.Learned the correct squat posture.
Peimo 2.0 Idea
1. Can the App be used alone? What are the scenarios?

2. Improve and optimize the method of indicating motion errors

3. Enhance user trust and exclusivity, customize and collaborate with professional rehabilitation therapists, physical therapists, fitness coaches, etc.

4.Redefining product audience

5.Use lighter weight materials for the product
